Wear-resistant cemented carbide for laser powder bed fusion

Phaseshift’s WC65-LPBF cemented carbide brings high hardness and abrasion resistance to printed wear components. It combines tungsten carbide with a proprietary alloy binder developed for LPBF, enabling complex shapes and internal passages.

Phaseshift supplies its cemented carbide as powder or finished parts.

Carbide wear performance, printed with LPBF

Phaseshift’s cemented carbide recorded 17.1 mm³ of volume loss in ASTM G65 Procedure A dry-abrasion testing. The comparison below places that result alongside selected binder-jetted cemented carbides and an electron-beam-printed cemented carbide. Lower volume loss means less material was removed during the test.

A new choice for industrial wear parts

The wider comparison places Phaseshift’s cemented carbide among established wear materials, from cobalt alloys and high-chromium cast irons to carbide composites and WC-Co. It provides a starting point for selecting materials to evaluate for your component.

Applications across industry

Phaseshift’s cemented carbide is a candidate for components that combine abrasive wear with complicated geometry. Potential applications include the examples below.

If your application falls outside these examples, tell us about the wear problem and the component you need to make. We’ll assess whether Phaseshift’s cemented carbide fits your operating conditions, geometry and manufacturing requirements.

01

Oil & Gas

Nozzles, flow control devices and choke or valve-trim inserts for abrasive fluids. Candidate designs include tailored ports and flow passages where wear changes flow performance.

02

Mining & Mineral Processing

Slurry-discharge nozzles, hydrocyclone inserts and localized wear inserts for pump passages. Compact, replaceable components offer a way to target the areas most exposed to wear within larger equipment.

03

Industrial Tooling

Abrasive-blasting nozzles, custom tools and replaceable tooling inserts. LPBF can combine shaped working surfaces, internal passages and mounting features for applications where standard tooling geometries are restrictive.
